Indonesia

Indonesia

Indonesia, a beautiful Southeast Asian nation made up of thousands of volcanic islands, is home to hundreds of ethnic groups speaking many different language. Indonesian rich history has been influenced by foreign powers drawn to its natural resources. With an abundant of green forests on all of its islands and half way between the poles, Indonesia was nicknamed ''The Emerald of the Equator''. It is famed for its beaches, volcanoes and jungles sheltering elephants, tigers and Komodo dragons.

Phuket

Phuket

Phuket, pronounced (roughly) "pu-ged", is Thailand's largest island and one of the southern provinces (changwat) of Thailand. Phuket formerly derived its wealth from tin and rubber, and enjoys a rich and colourful history. The island was on one of the major trading routes between India and China, and was frequently mentioned in foreign traders' ship's logs.  In recent times, Phuket's top earner has been tourism, which has transformed the island into Thailand's wealthiest province. It also enjoys great popularity as a travel destination. Most beaches are on the west coast, with Phuket Town to the southeast and the airport in the north.

Perth

Perth

Perth is the capital and largest city of the Australian state of Western Australia. It is the fourth-most populous city in Australia, with an estimated population of 2.02 million (as of 30 June 2014) living in Greater Perth. Perth is part of the South West Land Division of Western Australia, with the majority of the metropolitan area of Perth located on the Swan Coastal Plain, a narrow strip between the Indian Ocean and the Darling Scarp, a low coastal escarpment. The first areas settled were on the Swan River, with the city's central business district and port (Fremantle) both located on its shores. Founded in 1829 as the administrative centre of the Swan River Colony, Perth became known worldwide as the "City of Light" when city residents lit their house lights and streetlights as American astronaut John Glenn passed overhead while orbiting the earth on Friendship 7 in 1962.

Malé

Malé

Malé is the capital and most populous city in the Republic of Maldives. Administratively, the city consists of a central island, an airport island, and two other islands governed by the Malé City Council. Traditionally it was the King's Island, from where the ancient royal dynasties ruled and where the palace was located. The city was then called Mahal. Formerly it was a walled city surrounded by fortifications and gates (doroshi). The Royal Palace (Gan'duvaru) was destroyed along with the picturesque forts (kotte) and bastions (buruzu) when the city was remodelled under President Ibrahim Nasir's rule in the aftermath of the abolition of the monarchy in 1968. However, the Malé Friday Mosque remains. In recent years, the island has been considerably expanded through land-filling operations. Over the years, Malé has been the center of political protests and milestone events. In addition, it's known for its historic mosques and colorful skyscrapers.

Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur is a busy city with ordered skyscrapers, six-lane highways, colonial architecture and lots of greenery. It is the national capital and most populous global city in Malaysia. Greater Kuala Lumpur, also known as the Klang Valley, is an urban agglomeration of 7.2 million. It is the fastest growing metropolitan region in the country, in terms of population and economy. A cultural melting pot with some of the world's cheapest 5-star hotels, great shopping, even better food and some of nature's wonders in just an hour away, this dynamic city has much to offer for every visitor!

Semarang

Semarang

Semarang is a city on the north coast of the island of Java, Indonesia. It is the capital of the province of Central Java. A major port during the Dutch colonial era, and still an important port today, the city has a dominant Javanese population. Semarang is a bustling mid-sized city with a population of 1.5 million. More a business than tourism destination, it nevertheless has its own charm with contrasting modern mid-rises, Dutch colonial architecture, Chinatown, and small "kampong" jutting against each other.

Surabaya

Surabaya

Surabaya is Indonesia's second-largest city with a population of over 2.7 million, and the capital of the province of East Java. It is located on the northern shore of eastern Java at the mouth of the Mas River and along the edge of the Madura Strait. To Indonesians, it is known as "the city of heroes" due to the importance of the Battle of Surabaya in galvanising Indonesian and international support for Indonesian independence during the Indonesian National Revolution. The city's tree-lined streets, street parks and renovated pavements will impress those newly arrived from other cities in the archipelago, though in general the city's attractions tend to be more apparent to those who make it their home rather than to short-term visitors.

Colombo

Colombo

Colombo is the largest city and former capital of Sri Lanka. It is a busy and vibrant city with a mixture of modern life and colonial buildings and ruins and a city population of 647,100. Due to its large harbour and its strategic position along the East-West sea trade routes, Colombo has a long history and was known to ancient traders 2,000 years ago.  Colombo is a huge, sprawling city, which can be visited any time of year due to its beautiful tropical climate.

Darwin

Darwin

Darwin is the capital city of the Northern Territory, Australia. Situated on the Timor Sea, it is the smallest and most northerly of the Australian capital cities, and acts as the Top End's regional centre. Its popular waterfront area has several beaches and green areas like Bicentennial Park. Originally a pioneer outpost, the city itself is built on a low bluff overlooking the harbour. The Darwin region, like the rest of the Top End, has a tropical climate, with a wet and a dry season. The city is also noted for its consistently warm to hot climate, all throughout the year.
